Institute of International Peace Leaders Hosts EcoVision Global Compact Conference and IIPL Award Ceremony in Baku, Azerbaijan

Baku, Azerbaijan – January 30, 2025: The Institute of International Peace Leaders (IIPL), in collaboration with AlNassar Group Jordan, National Aviation Academy Azerbaijan, AlAhsa Readymix Saudi Arabia, and Turk Trade Center Baku Azerbaijan, successfully organized the EcoVision Global Compact Conference and IIPL Award Ceremony on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The prestigious event took place at the Turkic Star Conference Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan and gathered an esteemed panel of international experts, peace advocates, and distinguished personalities dedicated to environmental sustainability and global peace.

A Gathering of Global Visionaries

The conference was anchored by HÉ™cÉ™r MÉ™mmÉ™dova from the National Aviation Academy, Azerbaijan, who introduced the speakers and ensured the smooth flow of the event. In her opening remarks, she stated, “The day ahead is divided into two key sessions. Today’s event is more than just a conference; it is a testament to the power of collaboration and dialogue. It is a platform to ignite new ideas, forge stronger networks, and celebrate the spirit of unity that transcends borders, faiths, and cultures.”

The Chief Guest of the conference was Mr. Hasan Ali Mustafa Alwahdni, Chairman of AlNassar Group Jordan and UAE and Global Peace Ambassador of Institute of International Peace Leaders. The event was graced by an illustrious lineup of speakers, including:

Focus on Climate Change and COP29 Outcomes

The first half of the conference, the EcoVision Global Compact Conference, served as a critical platform to discuss the outcomes of COP29 and explore pathways to environmental sustainability, economic development, and global peace. Eminent speakers shared insights on climate change mitigation strategies, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and international cooperation for a greener planet.

Muhammad Atta Ur Rehman, Chairman of IIPL, warmly welcomed all distinguished guests and emphasized the significance of global partnerships in addressing pressing environmental challenges. He stated, “As we move forward post-COP29, it is imperative that nations, industries, and communities collaborate to mitigate climate change and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.”

Dr. Camal Huseynov highlighted the role of academic institutions in advancing sustainability efforts, saying, “Education and research play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for environmental conservation. The National Aviation Academy is committed to fostering knowledge and awareness on global climate challenges.”

Caroline Laurent Turunc spoke passionately about the role of literature and the arts in peacebuilding: “Words have the power to inspire and heal. As a poet and writer, I believe that literature can be a bridge between cultures, fostering mutual respect and understanding.”

Sebahat Adalar addressed the influence of the entertainment industry on social change: “Film and television shape perceptions and attitudes. As artists, we have a responsibility to promote messages of peace, tolerance, and environmental consciousness.”

Zahra Lakhani emphasized the importance of leadership in sustainability efforts: “The journey towards a greener planet requires strong leadership and commitment from all sectors. Through collaborative efforts, we can drive meaningful change.”

Joao Bernardo Vieira reflected on the importance of grassroots activism: “Communities must be empowered to take action. Sustainable development cannot be achieved without involving those directly affected by environmental challenges.”

Dr. Ahmed Alwakeel spoke about media’s role in shaping public perception on climate change: “Journalism and media platforms must highlight environmental issues with accuracy and urgency to encourage public engagement and policy reforms.”

Dahoua Anica addressed global cooperation in peacebuilding: “Peace and sustainability go hand in hand. We must work across borders to build a future rooted in harmony and respect for nature.”

Zaid Tayem reflected on art and cultural diplomacy: “Music and art transcend language barriers. They offer a powerful medium to communicate the urgency of climate action and social justice.”

Prof. Dr. Muhammed Ali Abdullah Shah provided insights into scientific research on climate change: “Innovative technologies and scientific research are key to combating climate change. Policymakers must support research-driven solutions for long-term impact.”

ZININ YEVGENIY discussed corporate sustainability initiatives: “Businesses must prioritize environmental responsibility. Sustainable business models are not only ethical but also essential for economic resilience.”

Muhammad Saeed Qaimkhani introduced activities of Institute of International Peace Leaders in Pakistan.

The second half of the event was dedicated to the IIPL Peace Awards, honoring outstanding individuals and organizations that have made remarkable contributions to peacebuilding, humanitarian service, and sustainable development.

The Honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Hasan Ali Mustafa Alwahdni, presented awards to the distinguished nominees, recognizing their dedication to fostering peace, social justice, and environmental responsibility worldwide.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was the request for IIPL membership by Miss Fergana Zulfugarova from The Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In recognition of her commitment to peace and leadership, she was decorated with the IIPL logo, symbolizing her official affiliation with the Institute.

The EcoVision Global Compact Conference and IIPL Award Ceremony stood as a testament to the power of global collaboration in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. The event successfully united climate experts, policymakers, artists, scholars, and peace ambassadors to deliberate on sustainable solutions for a better future.
