Humanist, academic and activist. Expert in the relations between cultural heritage management and tourism for the promotion of intercultural dialogue, global understanding and peace. He is Italian but he embraced an international career since 2004, being currently lecturer and researcher at Coventry University (UK) and visiting professor in several other universities in Europe and the Middle East, where he is responsible for topics such as "Tourism for SDGs", "Geopolitics & Tourism", "Tourism and Peace". He is author of several scientific papers in the area of cultural heritage and tourism for peace, and co-editor of the book “Role and Impact of Tourism in Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation”, published by IGI Global © 2021. He recently authored the entry “Peace through Tourism” in the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Peace and Conflict Studies (edited by Oliver Richmond and Gëzim Visoka), the most comprehensive and up-to-date resource on peace and conflict studies ever produced.
In 2017 he was appointed as a Global Ambassador of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) and IIPT Special Envoy to Iran. Currently he is also member of the scientific board of the European Network of Places of Peace, and member of the Global Diplomatic Forum. He served as a cultural diplomacy advisor until 2016.
As International Volunteer he served in Portugal through the European Volunteer Service in 2004, and since that time he served as volunteer in several other countries (Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Ecuador, Bangladesh, Iran, among others). He supports the UN Refugees Agency as well as UNICEF, and he belongs to the international UN Volunteers database, to serve in UN missions of Humanitarian Assistance and UN peacekeeping operation.
